Welcome to The Arts and Crafts Place!
I am changing things up a bit this summer. In partnership with Kirkwood Community College I will be holding three camps at West High School in Iowa City. June 16th through 20th will be an evening knitting camp so kids ages 10-16 can get a jump start on a creative summer. In the first two weeks of July are two Fiber Art Fun day camps – one for ages 8-10 and one for ages 10-16. These will be lively, fun samplers of dyeing, knitting, weaving, hand sewing and embroidery.
I am also taking the show on the road this summer! For several weeks I will be teaching at Saint Louis Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design. This is a good news/bad news situation as I am honored to be involved with such a notable arts and crafts organization in St Louis, but to do so, I had to scale back my Iowa City camps. I decided to concentrate on the subjects which I know best – the fiber arts. I am sad to let go of the ceramics, studio arts, sewing and cooking. I hope to bring back some new, fresh ideas from St Louis to benefit my Iowa City students.
I am excited to partner with Kirkwood. This allows me to offer yearlong programming, as well as summer camps, which has been a dream of mine. Stay tuned for fall classes and workshops! Meanwhile I hope to see old friends, and meet some new ones, at West High this summer.
